He graduated as BSc Physical Therapy at the “High Institute for Physiotherapy” in Antwerp in 1985, started as an independent physiotherapist in 1987 and worked for the Flemish Tennis Federation from 1989 until 1997.
He specialized in burns physiotherapy in 1997 and in 2001 he became Physiotherapy Coordinator at the OSCARE clinic, an after-care and research center for burns and scars.
In 2009 he became Research Coordinator at the OSCARE clinic, where he initiated a research program around “Physical scar management” where innovative physical treatments for burns and scars were investigated.
In 2010 he became the Academic Coordinator of Scar Academy, the educational division of OSCARE.
He is Guest Lecturer for MSc Burns of Queen Mary University London, UK and Executive Board Member of Global Scar Society and European Tissue Repair Society.
His topics of interest are soft-tissue techniques, scar-taping, vacuum-massage, shockwave-therapy, needling and mechanobiology of scarring.
